Matetic Winery Hotel – Relax and Sip!
Staying at the lovely Matetic Winery Hotel is a great experience and we highly recommend it for clients that want to spend time exploring some of the high-quality wineries in this coastal wine region close to Santiago.
As you can see from our drone video below the place is stunning. This hotel can be used as an alternative to staying in the city of Santiago as many wineries are then within easy reach and you don’t have to battle the traffic of the capital.
The Matetic winery hotel is located within 160 hectares of sprawling vineyards, ranged across 4 estates, primarily in the narrow Rosario Valley. The Rosario Valley is sandwiched between the well-known Casablanca and San Antonio Valleys, home to some very prestigious wineries.
The Matetic terroir boasts Pacific coastal influence, meaning cool breezes and lower nighttime temperatures, plus sometimes light morning mists. This combination leads to slow ripening fruit which is healthy, well-balanced and flavor intense. The sandy, granite soils, and gradients lead to good drainage, increased root penetration and vine stress plus an increased level of minerality of the end product.
The Matetic Experience
Upon arrival at the Matetic winery hotel, you will be greeted by the friendly and professional staff for check-in and orientation. This is an authentic boutique hotel experience with just 10 rooms, ensuring a high-quality guest experience and a feeling of real exclusivity. People will come for lunch in the on-site restaurant but they are not allowed to wander the hotel. If you have some downtime the hotel has very extensive gardens and grounds to wander in and a lovely pool to relax by.
While you are guests at the hotel there is, of course, the included visit to the winery and vineyards. We will program a premium tasting of the EQ line of wines, with crackers and dried fruit to help your palate along. Before we get to the delicious part though we will show you around the vineyards, winery, and cellar and give you an overview of the winemaking philosophy at Matetic.
[easy-image-collage id=8070]After your tour and tasting at the winery, we will take you the short drive back to the hotel for a wine pairing lunch in the Equilibrio Restaurant which you can see in the video is set on the small lake in the hotel gardens. The chef here wants you to enjoy “slow food” so that you can take your time to enjoy local flavors and how the Matetic wines bring these flavors out even more.
Depending on your schedule we may be taking you to another winery in the area or leaving you free to relax and digest in this very tranquil setting. This area of Chile is very easily combined with others such as the Colchagua Valley for example.
